Director / Compass Peer Education Program & Oros Well-th Scholars

Responsible for the strategic leadership, oversight and evaluation of the Oros Well-th Scholarship Cohort and Compass peer education program initiatives. This position will work directly under the supervision of the Executive Director of Counseling Services to administer the Oros Well-th Scholarship Protocol, including recruiting applicants, managing the selection process, offering Protocol experiences, and tracking scholarship recipient participation. This role is responsible for the development of student-led programs that promote wellness, leadership, and academic success, while aligning with institutional priorities and desired student outcomes.

Using the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) competencies for a career-ready workforce and the 8-dimensions of wellness as a framework, the Director will work with the students to design and develop outreach programs, presentations, and opportunities for student development focused on skill development for wellbeing and positive mental health. The Director will work to promote the program, recruit scholars, collaborate with campus partners, and develop cross campus relationships that promote student wellbeing and supports student success.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, preferably in public health, education, social work, psychology, or another related field. University level experience developing programs, mentoring students, or overseeing student initiatives. Demonstrated experience developing and promoting health and wellness programs. Commitment to inclusivity and building community with students with different backgrounds and experiences. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

The ability to make data-informed decisions and adapt the program to meet the evolving needs of the students. Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment. Demonstrated leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in higher education, counseling, social work, or public health. Experience in a peer education program or leading a peer education program at the university level.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Fosters a student-centered and inclusive learning environment for the peer educators. Works in collaboration with the CMU Student Recruitment and Retention division and the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to recruit Oros Well-th Scholars. Responsible for the advertising and promotion of the Compass Program and the recruitment and selection of Oros Well-th Scholars. Supports the Oros Well-th Scholars in their progress towards program completion and graduation.

Works collaboratively with campus partners to develop initiatives that promote cross campus partnerships and student development, centered around wellness, leadership opportunities, and student success. Develop, coordinate, and implement training for all peer educators that support program initiatives. In cooperation with the Admissions office, coordinates and provides leadership in marketing the Oros Well-th scholarship cohort nationally. Coordinates with the Office of Scholarships and Financial aid disbursement of scholarship funds, communicates with scholarship recipients their award status, hears appeals of students who have failed to renew their award.

Informs budgeting process, responsibly manages all funds allocated to the Oros Well-th Scholarship program and the Compass program. Responsible for the development of student-led programs that promote wellness, leadership, academic excellence, while aligning with desired student outcomes. Develops assessment strategies to evaluate program effectiveness and to ensure the program is aligned with program, divisional, and institutional priorities. Collect and analyze data and create reports that highlight program accomplishments, challenges, and opportunities.
