Job Overview

Charter Township of Union is seeking an energetic, team‑oriented individual to join its Public Services Department as a full‑time Assistant Water Operator. The position reports to the Chief Water Operator and is responsible for assisting in all aspects of water plant and system maintenance.

• Assist with water plant and system maintenance, including filtration processes, cross‑connection inspections, water sampling, and chemical evaluation.
• Respond to all water system emergencies.
• Serve as construction inspector for water and sewer projects.
• Maintain and program SCADA systems and monitoring devices.
• Assist in maintaining chemical and supply inventories for water treatment and filtration systems.
• Perform regular field work related to water system operations.
• Assume responsibility for the water plant in the absence of the Chief Water Operator.
