About the role
A Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician. The role involves ensuring donor safety and compliance with industry regulations while delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility for plasma donation, including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE) results.
- Manage donor adverse events and review laboratory test results.
- Notify donors of unsuitable test results and coordinate follow‑up actions.
- Evaluate donor reactions according to SOPs and follow applicable standard operating procedures for medical emergencies, including activating Center Physician standing orders and arranging transport to emergency care as needed.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for findings requiring medical or technical guidance, including donor safety and eligibility issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees, as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health or employee relations, referring to EHS guidance for incident handling.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats within the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduation from a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Current licensure or certification in the state of assignment:
Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state IV therapy requirements.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Hourly wage range: $31.68 – $43.56, based on experience, education, and certifications.
