The Program Coordinator RN Trauma maintains sole accountability for the coordination of Trauma and Stroke Program to ensure an organized, multi-disciplinary approach to quality care. The Program Coordinator RN Trauma works in close collaboration with the Trauma and Stroke Medical Director and Emergency Department Manager. Promotes optimal trauma and stroke care through implementation of programs, coordination of activities, and evaluation of systems, processes and outcomes.
Participates in the development, education and maintenance of trauma and stroke performance improvement programs. Responsible for hospital emergency preparedness, training, drill planning, implementation, and maintain emergency preparedness standards.
- Manages, as appropriate, the operational, personnel and financial aspects of the Trauma Program, serves as a liaison to administration and representing the Trauma Program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal trauma care management.
- Responds to Code Trauma while in house.
- Develops, oversees, implements and evaluates the quality assurance program related to trauma care.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing. (Associates Degree/Diploma in nursing maybe considered provided Bachelor's degree in nursing is successfully completed within thirty‑six (36) months of hire/transfer date.
- Valid Michigan Registered Nurse License
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required or obtained within six months of hire
- Three (3) years of experience in Emergency Nursing and trauma center environment or OR, ICU in a trauma center environment
- NIHSS certification, if not current must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire/transfer date.
- Master's Degree in Nursing or health related field
- Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) and/or Critical Care (CCRN)
- TNCC Instructor Certification
- Experience in collecting, coding and scoring trauma records and maintaining the Trauma Registry
- Minimum two years in leadership/management role
- Six (6) months experience in coordinating process and performance improvement activities.
