Your role as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) is to support plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician.
About the roleThe Medical Support Specialist determines donor eligibility, manages donor adverse events, reviews laboratory test results, and notifies donors of unsuitable test results. The role requires familiarity with plasma collection regulations and providing center‑level support for environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and implement medical emergency procedures, including Center Physician standing orders and emergency transport.
- Consult Center Physician or Medical Affairs on donor safety and eligibility issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and coordinate evaluation with occupational health/ER per EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and investigate local pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a recognized nursing program graduate with state licensure.
- License or certification as EMT‑Paramedic in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State mandatory IV therapy qualification.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience.
Hourly wage range: $23.04 – $31.68. Wages reflect experience, skills, education, and local living costs and meet state/local minimum wage requirements.
