We’re growing our architectural team in Charleston and looking for an entry Level to mid-level architectural designer who wants hands‑on experience, real project involvement, and close mentorship. If you enjoy working directly with architects, designing structures that actually get built, and building strong AutoCAD‑based design skills, we’d love to connect. If you have only worked in Commercial architectural Design, not residential, that is ok, we can train you.

We want someone who is genuinely interested in residential – renovations/additions, and new construction residential architectural design.

About Coastal Creek Design

Coastal Creek Design is a Charleston‑based firm that integrates structural engineering and architectural design within a single, collaborative team. Engineers work directly with architects from early concept through construction, allowing structural systems to be coordinated efficiently and thoughtfully.

We focus exclusively on residential projects, including new construction, renovations, additions, and structural retrofits, offering hands‑on exposure across all phases of design and construction.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Entry–Mid Level Architectural Designer/Draftsman to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early‑career Architect looking to develop strong technical skills while working closely with experienced Architects on residential projects. The current structural engineer group consists of 2 senior Structural Engineers, and 2 engineer Techs. The architectural group consists of a Licensed Architect, Senior Architect, 5 Architectural project managers, and 6 Architectural Designers.

What

You’ll Do
  • Develop architectural drawings and details for Renovation/addition and new construction projects using AutoCAD
  • Participate in site visits to document existing conditions
  • Measure and draw houses for As Built plans
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and internal team members
  • Manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality, accuracy, and organization
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum associate’s degree in architecture or Drafting
  • Basic familiarity with applicable building codes and standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn, accept feedback, and grow technically
  • Ability to perform field work, including site visits
  • Willing to work out of our Mount Pleasant office
