Role Description

The Freelance Tech Pack Designer is a part-time, on and off-site role based in Mount Pleasant, SC. This role is responsible for creating accurate, detailed tech packs that clearly communicate design specifications, measurements, construction methods, trims, and materials to production partners.

Tasks include collaborating with the design team to refine concepts, translating sketches into technical flats, updating size specs and measurement charts, and ensuring consistency across styles and collections. The Tech Pack Designer will participate in fittings, document changes, and revise tech packs accordingly to support fit, quality, and manufacturability.

  • Strong Technical Design and Garment Construction skills to translate creative concepts into clear, production-ready specifications.
  • Experience with Fitting and Pattern Making to support accurate sizing, fit adjustments, and pattern corrections.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator and Excel) for flats, tech pack creation, and spec sheets.
  • Solid understanding of fabrics, trims, and apparel production processes, including communication with manufacturers and vendors.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with capacity to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with design, production, and sourcing teams.
  • Relevant education in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in apparel tech pack creation.
