Security
- Knowledge of methods for designing, administering and evaluating training programs;
- Knowledge of visual aid use and development;
- Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Forms etc.);
- Knowledge and ability to lead discussions, and instruct training groups;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
- Ability to analyze training/development needs and also communicate effectively, develops, justify, and maintain annual budgetary needs;
- Maintain agency weapons readiness; secures and maintains range use agreements with non- SCDC agencies;
- Ability to complete correctional officer basic training supervisor courses, training for trainer courses: instructor, firearms, defensive tactics, ASHI first aid/CPR, less lethal munitions, ICSC, AAA Defensive Driving, and mental health first aid.
- Obtain SC Criminal Justice academy firearms instructor certification, secure a CDL license within 1 year.
- Responsible for oversight of all SCDC ranges, i.e. maintenance, operations, internal and external agreements, inspections, and identify deficiencies and ensure follow-up.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant supervisory experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required supervisory experience.
SCDC
Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and six (6) years experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include two (2) years of supervisory experience.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 2 years).
Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
Required teaching/training experience:
A bachelor's degree plus two (2) years teaching/training;
OR
An associate degree plus four (4) years teaching/training experience;
OR
A high school diploma plus six (6) years teaching/training experience.
Must successfully acquire a CDL within 1 year and successfully complete the following T4T courses:
Basic Defensive Driving, Defensive Tactics, Incidents, ICSC for Corrections, Firearms, First AID/CPR and AED, less lethal munitions, and respiratory fit testing.
Must successfully complete a physical agility assessment and maintain performance standards for all T4
Ts.
