The Program Manager at the University of South Carolina's Center for Science Education will lead STEM outreach programs and coordinate discipline-based education research initiatives.
The role combines oversight of the annual Science and Engineering Fair-including elementary, middle, and high school competitions with support for research on evidence-based teaching practices in STEM courses.
Key responsibilities include event planning and logistics, budgeting, participant recruitment, managing research observations and datasets, training undergraduate research assistants, and pursuing external funding opportunities.
Key qualifications:- Experience with teacher observations and data collection/analysis of educational research
- Expertise in data cleaning and analysis, virtual meeting coordination, and collaboration with secondary teachers and university instructors
- Experience running logistics for outreach events such as science fairs
- Proficiency with qualitative and quantitative educational research methods
- Proficiency with cloud computing tools including Google Workspace
- Strong communication skills with parents, teachers, and community partners in multiple formats
