Program Coordinator

Heart Math Tutoring aims to ensure that all elementary students develop a strong foundation in math and enthusiasm for academics by leveraging volunteer time. Community members commit one hour per week to deliver an effective, hands-on curriculum in one-on-one tutoring sessions during the school day in Charlotte, Charleston, and Winston-Salem elementary schools. Designed in partnership with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Heart Math Tutoring provides a curriculum that targets conceptual gaps in students.

The organization also provides an on-site coordinator to support volunteers, students, and school staff.

This is a part-time role for a Program Coordinator, located on-site in Charleston County, SC. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for managing day-to-day activities, including supporting volunteers, students, and school staff. Key tasks include overseeing the tutoring sessions, coordinating schedules, and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders. The Program Coordinator will ensure that the curriculum is delivered effectively, and will provide additional support where needed.

• Experience in program management, scheduling, and coordination
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers, students, and school staff
• Organizational and time management skills
• Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
• Experience in education or working with elementary school students is beneficial
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field is preferred
