Senior Environmental Engineer - Water Group

Job Description

This position is for a Senior Environmental Engineer based in South Carolina to assist in the delivery of water treatment facilities of moderate to high complexity throughout the Southeast United States.

• With high-level goals provided, lead teams to design and deliver water treatment facilities and related water infrastructure, including process modeling, signing, and sealing construction drawings as the engineer‑of‑record.
• Apply alternative delivery experience such as progressive design‑build (preferred).
• Review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and sign off on completed designs.
• Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs; perform site reviews and studies as needed to align designs with location specifications; update design requirements as necessary; perform water quality analyses and modeling.
• Contribute to the firm’s Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special‑case designs and studies; submit technical papers and designs for publication in technical journals.
• Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client RFPs; review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices.
• Proactively meet with current and prospective clients to review their design needs; attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve visibility of the firm’s products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff; act as a point of contact for external client and industry contacts.
• Collaborate with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions, provide updates to project management as necessary, and perform other duties as required.
• Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff; mentor and develop junior staff for future growth within the discipline and firm.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• Ten years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; the frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties and the essential functions of the position.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Professional Engineer.

An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.

• Expert knowledge of computer‑assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
• Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
