We are working with a well-established, locally-owned Civil Engineering firm located in Mount Pleasant that is looking to add several Civil Engineers to their team.

About the Role:

In this position you will take ownership of civil site design and coordination for commercial and industrial developments, from concept through completion. You will be responsible for integrating grading, utilities, stormwater, and site layout into cohesive, constructible plans, while managing schedules, permitting, and stakeholder coordination. Your work will ensure projects are delivered efficiently, compliant with regulations, and aligned with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed civil site plans using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for commercial and industrial projects, including grading, utilities, and site layout.
  • Perform stormwater modeling and hydrologic/hydraulic analyses to support stormwater management design and compliance.
  • Prepare and coordinate permitting packages with local and state agencies, responding to comments and tracking approvals.
  • Manage project schedules, milestones, and deliverables, coordinating tasks across internal teams and external consultants.
  • Oversee civil site work design, including roadway, parking, drainage, and erosion control plans, ensuring constructability and adherence to standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and other disciplines to integrate civil design into overall project concepts and resolve design issues.
  • Review construction documents and shop drawings, provide technical support during construction, and address field-related design questions.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and documentation to support design decisions and regulatory submissions.
Key Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Civil Engineer working on commercial and/or industrial site development projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil site design and plan production.
  • Hands‑on experience with stormwater modeling, hydrology, and stormwater management design.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects, schedules, and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of civil site work, including grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion control.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal permitting processes relevant to land development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with clients, agencies, and project teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Desirable

Skills:
  • Experience with regional stormwater regulations and design standards applicable to South Carolina and coastal environments.
  • Proficiency with additional civil engineering software (e.g., HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, HydroCAD, or similar).
  • Prior involvement in construction observation, field verification, or contractor coordination.
  • Experience preparing cost estimates and assisting with project budgeting.
  • Exposure to industrial site utilities and infrastructure, including specialized drainage or containment systems.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina, or the ability to obtain SC licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
  • EIT/FE certification required if not currently licensed as a PE.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g., ASCE) preferred.
