Instructor (Nuclear) or Senior Instructor (Nuclear) - Engineering
Develop instructional materials and conduct training for various technical training programs at the Company's nuclear power stations. The incumbent should have in-depth knowledge of instructional design theory and expertise in the technical area for which they provide training. Responsibilities include analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating training in the classroom, laboratory, and on-the-job, and maintaining training programs in accordance with nuclear industry, regulatory, and legal requirements.
Qualifications- Instructor (Nuclear):
At least 5 years of experience (with a related Bachelor's degree) in the trade, craft, or discipline for which they would train. Prefer at least 4 of the 5 years of directly related experience in an INPO‑accredited training program. In lieu of the preferred Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree with 7 years of experience or a High School Diploma/GED with 9 years of experience may be accepted.
Full proficiency in the specific craft discipline (e.g., Nuclear Plant Equipment Operator, Nuclear Electrician, Nuclear Instrument Technician, Nuclear Mechanic, Nuclear Chemistry Technician, Health Physics Technician). Demonstrated ability to prepare, present, and practice job‑related skills with class participants through the delivery and successful conduct of OJT/TPE, and formal approval to conduct OJT/TPE for the specific discipline. - Senior Instructor (Nuclear): 12+ years of related experience, or Certified Instructor (including 5+ years), or RO/SRO (including 5+ years), or Sr Instructor Training Cert from Dominion (including 5+ years). Requires in‑depth knowledge of instructional theory and design and SAT. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency, ability to operate instrumentation and controls, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to analyze and develop training materials, train and lead others, interface with regulatory personnel and industry peers, informal leadership skills, and effective communication with regulators.
Requirements
Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the preferred level of education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred. Other disciplines may be substituted.
- Reactor Operator (RO) or Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license, or applicable discipline INPO accredited initial training program, Senior Instructor Training Certification (Dominion), or Certified Instructor.
- ANSI/ANS‑3.1‑2014, Section 4.5.4.
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum experience:
Related experience 2 years;
Nuclear power plant experience 0.25 years. - Special requirements:
Demonstrated knowledge of instructional techniques with qualification as a certified instructor; instructors of licensed personnel on simulator must hold or have held a senior operator’s license or equivalent senior operator knowledge.
