Job Summary:

The mid-level mechanical consultant completes mechanical design with little direction or input from supervisor/mentor from project start through Construction Administration on a project of average complexity.

Responsibilities:

  • Understands code requirements and properly applies them to the project.
  • Seeks feedback/validation on design decisions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply designs of increasing complexity.
  • Perform individual aspects of mechanical engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects.
  • This is inclusive of, but not limited to the following:
    • HVAC – Split system/Package Heat Pumps, Chilled Water/Hot Water Hydronics, Steam/Condensate, Constant volume and variable volume air distribution systems.
    • Plumbing – Medical gas systems, Hot and cold water/waste and vent systems, Compressed air systems.
    • Fire Protection – Performance drawings and specification for wet pipe and dry pipe systems.
  • Understands and implements cross-discipline coordination both internal and external.
  • Performs self QC on work and plans for/seeks appropriate peer review of work.
  • Sees the mechanical construction of the project through completion; RFI's owner/architect/contractor meeting attendance, submittals, construction observation site visits and reports.
  • Performs appropriate field work to determine a design direction and develop record drawings.

Qualifications and

Experience:

  • Educational Background:
    Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or an Architectural Engineering Degree
  • Certifications/Registrations:
    Passing Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred
  • Experience:

    2-8 years

Other Skills / Abilities:

  • Ability to work in Revit/Microsoft Office/HVAC Load Analysis Program (HAP or TRACE)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service capabilities.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours per week to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to drive to project sites and perform customary field work.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Able to work in the United States.
  • Process correspondence efficiently, accurately and confidentially.
  • Work independently and in a team environment
