Financial Advisor / Consultant, Wealth Management
Why This Role Exists
This is a developmental hire designed to build the next Lead Advisor at our Mt. Pleasant office. The firm’s owner is intentionally winding down new-client intake to focus on legacy relationships, and this role is the cornerstone of that succession plan.
You will not be asked to bring or hunt for a book of business. Our marketing engine produces a steady stream of qualified prospects. You will learn our process first under direct mentorship, then graduate into running it.
This is not a fit for someone looking to serve in a planning-only role.
Flexible PTO - Unlimited PTO after a 6-month probationary period, provided deadlines and in-office and in-person client meeting commitments are met.
Career Path: A Defined Track to Lead AdvisorThis is not an open-ended associate role. It is a structured 1–3 year development track with clear milestones:
- Year 1 — Learn: Sit in on every prospect and client meeting alongside the owner. Build the firm’s plans under direct mentorship. Master Advyzon, Money Guide, and our tax planning workflow.
- Year 2 — Lead: Begin co-leading meetings, owning planning deliverables end-to-end, and managing the prospect-to-onboarding process. Build proficiency in investment proposals and tax projections.
- Year 3+ — Run: Move into a Lead Advisor seat with primary responsibility for new client acquisition, onboarding, and ongoing relationship management. Most new firm clients route to you while the owner transitions focus to mainly legacy relationships.
We focus on three core client segments, in order of practice emphasis:
- Retirees — Pre-retirees and retirees focused on tax-efficient income strategies, multi-year Roth conversion planning, Social Security and Medicare optimization, RMD management, and legacy and estate planning.
- Small Business Owners — Owners who need their personal and business financial planning truly married together: entity structure decisions, retirement plan design (Solo 401(k), SEP, defined benefit), tax-optimal owner compensation, exit and succession planning, and integrated cash flow strategy across both balance sheets.
- HENRYs (High Earners Not Rich Yet) — Young professionals navigating high incomes, equity compensation (RSUs, ISOs, NQSOs), backdoor Roth strategies, deferred compensation, and accumulating wealth efficiently against complex tax exposure.
- Develop comprehensive, customized financial plans aligned with each client’s goals — with particular emphasis on tax planning (multi-year tax projections, Roth conversions, RMD strategies, equity compensation analysis).
- Sit in on prospect calls, in-person prospect meetings, and recurring client meetings led by the owner; take notes, gather data, and translate the discussion into actionable plan deliverables.
- Build and refine investment proposals for new and existing clients under the supervision of the lead advisor.
- Maintain and update the firm CRM (Advyzon) following each client interaction and planning activity.
- Use Money Guide as the primary financial planning software; integrate tax software outputs into the broader plan.
- Collaborate remotely with the Myrtle Beach team (lead advisor and client operations director) on cross-office workflows and best practices.
- Stay current on financial planning best practices, tax law changes, and SEC compliance requirements applicable to our RIA.
- Leverage and adapt to emerging technologies to optimize workflows and discover new ways to maximize efficiency
- A defined path to Lead Advisor — not a vague “growth opportunity.”
- Direct, daily mentorship from the firm’s owner and lead advisor.
- Young, forward-looking leadership: both lead advisors are years younger than the 56-year industry average (J.D. Power 2025).
- Active AI integration in our planning and operations — we are building a modern practice, not maintaining an old one.
- Tax-forward planning culture — your CFP® work will be technical and integrated, not generic.
- Stable, profitable, fee-only RIA with low staff turnover and a second-generation family-business foundation.
