Role Description The Mortgage Loan Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Mount Pleasant, SC. This role is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans, building and maintaining relationships with clients, real estate professionals, and referral partners, and guiding borrowers through the loan application process. Daily responsibilities include evaluating borrower needs, recommending appropriate mortgage products, collecting and reviewing documentation, and coordinating with underwriting and processing teams to ensure timely approvals and closings.
The Mortgage Loan Officer will also monitor loan pipelines, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policy requirements. Additionally, this role participates in local networking and community activities to grow business and reinforce Coastal States Bank’s presence in the Mount Pleasant market.
- Experience as a Loan Officer with a proven track record of originating and closing residential mortgage loans.
- Strong knowledge of the Mortgage Industry and Mortgage Lending practices, including conventional, FHA, VA, and other common loan products.
- Understanding of Underwriting standards, documentation requirements, and regulatory guidelines relevant to mortgage lending.
- Excellent Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, build trust, and support borrowers throughout the loan process.
- Ability to develop and manage referral relationships with real estate agents, builders, and other community partners.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and proficiency with loan origination systems and standard office software.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) under the SAFE Act and applicable state requirements.
