Job Summary

Under limited supervision and in accordance with state and university procurement policies, performs purchasing activities to support departmental needs, primarily utilizing purchase orders and small purchase methods.

Responsibilities
  • Process purchase transactions ranging from routine small purchases with simple competition to complex acquisitions requiring detailed specifications and evaluation.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes, issue purchase orders, and ensure compliance with applicable procurement policies and procedures.
  • Support vendor communication, basic negotiations, and documentation of sourcing decisions.
  • Assist with public notice requirements and other mandatory procurement documentation.
  • Perform administrative support functions, including correspondence routing, data tracking, and report preparation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and experience.
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn the SC Consolidated Procurement Code as it relates to routine purchasing activities.
  • Basic knowledge of procurement processes, including quote solicitation and purchase order issuance.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and financial/procurement systems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to day‑to‑day transactions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and external vendors.
