The HCA Nurse Residency Program is a year‑long program designed to give you hands‑on experience and help establish valuable clinical and critical‑thinking skills. The HCA Nurse Residency Program equips you with the tools to succeed in today’s hospital environment. This paid program assists with the transition from classroom to clinical practice through a series of learning experiences including advanced clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training, simulation‑based skill evaluation, mentorship from nurse leaders and participation in an evidence‑based practice project.
Responsibilities- Assess patient condition during admission and throughout each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient response, notify provider and intervene when necessary.
- Respond promptly to patient requests, anticipate needs and resolve them proactively.
- Teach patients, families and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment plan, medications, side effects and follow‑up measures; translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment
- Additional certifications as required during employment
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse license or graduate nurse status in the state
- No previous experience needed
- Some travel may be required for training
