Job Description Summary

The Engineering Quality Strategic Initiatives Leader is responsible for defining, building, aligning, and deploying a proactive, enterprise-scale design quality system across Gas Power Engineering. This role leads the development and execution of a Zero-Defect design framework, ensuring quality is built into product and process design rather than detected downstream. The leader will define the standard, align with GE Vernova corporate and business leadership on a common framework, and drive global deployment across the engineering organization, with end-to-end ownership from development through adoption, governance, and sustainment.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Define, build, and deploy the enterprise Zero-Defect Design quality framework, including standards, processes, tools, and operating mechanisms across the engineering organization.
  • Align with GE Vernova corporate and business leadership to establish a common, scalable design quality framework and ensure consistent application across businesses.
  • Translate strategy into execution by developing standards, work instructions, and deployment roadmaps that enable practical implementation across engineering.
  • Drive global adoption and sustainment of the framework, including training, capability building, and structured change management across functions and regions.
  • Own core Design assurance processes (e.g., DFMEA) and ensure integration and effective application of related processes (e.g., DFM, DFA, DFS) within the broader design quality system.
  • Lead implementation of Integrated Quality Planning (IQP) aligned with APQP principles, ensuring strong integration with Design quality assurance tools and cross‑functional risk management processes (Technical Risk Module).
  • Partner with adjacent value streams (e.g., Build, Buy, Execute) to strengthen design robustness, improve cross‑functional risk visibility, and ensure alignment between design intent and product realization.
  • Support execution and coach engineering teams through program‑level quality reviews (e.g., QRRs) to ensure effective application of Design quality standards, robust risk identification, and consistent use of IQP tools.
  • Establish and operate governance systems, including audits, maturity assessments, QMR/MOR operating rhythms, and performance tracking to ensure adherence and effectiveness.
  • Drive upstream defect prevention and technical risk reduction, improving right‑first‑time execution and reducing reliance on downstream inspection and rework.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related technical field.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in engineering, quality, or product development within complex industrial environments.
  • Experience leading or deploying proactive design quality systems (e.g., APQP, DFMEA, design assurance frameworks, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience leading cross‑functional initiatives in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Background in power generation, aerospace, automotive, or industrial engineering preferred.
  • Experience delivering measurable business impact, including reduction in defects, customer escapes, and Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ), as well as improved first‑pass yield and product reliability.
  • Experience leading enterprise‑scale transformation and cultural change initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and data‑driven decision‑making skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage and influence senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.
  • Committed to continuous improvement, Lean principles, and operational excellence.
Desired Characteristics
  • Deep expertise in design quality and design assurance methodologies, including DFMEA, DFM, DFA, DFS, and design verification & validation.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, governance models, and maturity frameworks.
