Job Summary
Supports the University’s research initiatives as a Research Associate (R2) under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator. Conducts NIH‑funded projects focusing on the mechanisms underlying inflammatory diseases using flow cytometry, scRNA, spatial transcriptomics, microbiome, and epigenetic analyses. Performs bacterial identification, characterization, and sequencing studies of methylation, histone modifications, and chromatin accessibility to determine gene dysregulation.
Responsibilities- Generate and analyze laboratory data to investigate inflammatory disease mechanisms.
- Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook and present findings in group meetings, symposia, and formal discussions.
- Publish results promptly in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Update laboratory personnel on current methodologies, equipment capabilities, ongoing experiments, and future research directions.
- Assist in training other laboratory personnel.
- Adhere to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations for lawful and ethical research conduct.
Education and Experience
- Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in a relevant research specialty.
- Animal Use, Health and Safety certification.
- Expertise in –omics research.
- Knowledge of laboratory hazards and safety practices, skill in setting up, caring for, and using laboratory equipment.
- Capability to develop and improve research methodology.
- Experience in writing scientific manuscripts and presenting research findings.
- Commitment to conduct research activities lawfully and ethically by adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
