Job Title

Electrician (T2 – Technical Support)

Location

USC Campus, Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, this role involves maintaining and repairing campus‑wide electrical systems, installing electrical equipment, and remodeling existing services to support academic and administrative departments.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair electrical systems—panels, branch circuits, lighting, and connected equipment.
  • Assist senior electricians and supervisors with project work by providing field input, performing installations, and supporting system testing and commissioning.
  • Maintain compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and institutional standards; keep accurate work records.
  • Install conduit, wiring, and electrical components for renovations and equipment installations; modify existing building systems to accommodate load changes.
  • Receive, diagnose, and complete work orders related to building electrical systems; escalating complex or system‑level issues as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Job‑related accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program.
  • At least two (2) years of job‑related experience; or an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman Electrician certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other electrical documents.
  • Understand written and oral instructions and use a computer.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, coworkers, vendors, and contractors.
