Parks Maintenance Technician - Seasonal Catawba Bend

The Parks Department is hiring a temporary, non-exempt Parks Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position will perform multiple skilled trades to include landscaping, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and other technical trades associated in the repair and maintenance of multiple County owned Parks and Recreation facilities.

This is a seasonal position that includes weekends and holidays, hours are not guaranteed and are assigned as needed. Position is expected to last approximately six months.

• Performs general grounds maintenance work, including but not limited to installing landscape materials, mowing grass, bush hogging, planting, tree and shrub maintenance, removing debris.
• Performs general maintenance of Park facilities; including, but not limited to HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, carpentry work, painting and preventive maintenance.
• Performs routine custodial work, including cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, removing trash, stocking restroom supplies.
• Prepares Parks for community or special events; including set-up, tear down, and support during the event. May work after hours and weekends.
• Opens and closes Park entrances as needed.
• Performs multiple levels of construction that includes carpentry work, masonry, drywall, painting.
• Performs related work as assigned.

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in a skilled or unskilled trade, construction, facility maintenance or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Valid driver’s license required.

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

• Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
