Job Responsibilities
- Operates medium equipment such as a tandem dump truck hauling materials and supplies to and from job sites.
- Coordinates placement of traffic control devices to properly set up a maintenance work zone according to the SCDOT Work Zone Traffic Control Manual and Field Guide to warn motorists.
- Operates power tools such as a chain saw in cutting trees from the highway right-of-way, and hand or pneumatic-powered tools.
- Flags traffic during road repairs to control the flow of traffic, making work sites safe for workers and the traveling public.
- Uses hand tools such as shovel, bush knife etc.
- Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations; may include being available for extended work hours and/or 12-hour shifts.
Six (6) months of related work experience; or approved acceptable experience. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
