Wellness Coordinator position in the District Department, reports to Superintendent. Exempt.
Primary
Purpose:
Work to establish support, safety and connectedness for students, families, faculty and staff by focusing on wrap‑around services for students, including expanded learning opportunities, increased school‑based health and wellness services, family engagement and support services, and programs to improve student attendance and training for staff and community partners.
Qualifications (Education/Certification/Experience): Bachelor’s degree
Special Knowledge, Skills, and/or Responsibilities- Experience working with students at all grade levels (K‑12)
- Knowledge of outside agencies and resources to help refer students and families in need of services beyond the scope of school assistance
- Active in the community (local boards, civic organizations, etc.)
- Establish a clear, compelling plan for student and family engagement that supports the shared vision for the district (K‑12)
- Work with campus principals to develop, implement and monitor strategic plans aligned with campus and district goals leading to continuous improvement
- Work with district/campus staff to design, implement, supervise and evaluate systemic protocols, operations and tools for student, family engagement and educational support
- Implement and administer procedures that comply with district, campus, federal and state regulations
- Design programs that foster feelings of support, safety, connectedness and individual well‑being on each campus
- Develop, implement and plan activities that focus on the needs of students, families and educators
- Participate in campus problem‑solving teams and school crisis prevention and response teams to promote connectedness and safety
- Identify and address student and family needs in collaboration with district admin, campus principals and staff
- Maintain a multi‑tiered continuum of services supporting academic, social, emotional and behavior goals for students
- Monitor academic, mental, behavioral, emotional and physical health supports, including individual and group counseling, positive behavioral supports and parent education
- Design programming, training, activities and speakers to address roadblocks to academic and individual success
- Celebrate student strengths and successes through programming and activities
- Promote team‑building activities and strategies that build a positive campus climate, connectedness and safety
- Provide opportunities for students and families to “plug in” and connect to academics, extracurricular, mental, behavioral, emotional and physical health services on campus
- Provide academic counseling and transition services leading to college, career, military readiness and post‑secondary success for all students
- Assist in removing obstacles that might prevent academic and post‑secondary success
- Assist with campus‑to‑campus transitions for students and parents
- Provide emotional and behavioral interventions that give students skills and techniques for positive behavior development and support teachers with professional development targeting the implementation of positive behavior supports in classrooms
- Serve as a liaison between school and home; establish trusting relationships and serve as a point of contact for families; create a welcoming environment
- Promote educational well‑being through active involvement with students, families, faculty, community and local civic organizations
- Promote community involvement in the district and across community services/organizations
