We are seeking a dedicated Safety and Health Specialist to provide leadership, guidance, and hands‑on support to our site's safety processes. This role is essential in fostering a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
General SummaryThe Safety and Health Specialist is responsible for driving continuous improvement in workplace safety by providing direction, training, and oversight of safety programs. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all team members work in a safe environment and that Pilgrim's safety expectations are consistently met.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Investigate all near misses, first aid cases, recordable incidents, lost‑day injuries, and vehicular accidents within 24 hours; track and ensure closure of all corrective actions and recommendations.
- Maintain strong visibility throughout the processing plant and other site locations to support team members and reinforce safe work practices.
- Conduct periodic safety and health audits; document findings and ensure timely resolution.
- Deliver authorized training on topics including:
- Powered Industrial Trucks
- Lockout/Tagout
- Fall Protection
- Respiratory Protection
- Confined Space Entry
- Additional topics as assigned
- Accurately enter data into accident, training, and corrective action databases in a timely manner.
- Support training initiatives across the organization and ensure all required monthly training is completed as scheduled.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum three years of directly related experience in an industrial environment preferred.
- Strong ability to accurately record, communicate, and report safety incidents to complex management.
- Solid working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general safety compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
; SAP experience is a plus. - Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Ability to work varying shifts and weekends as needed.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday with some weekend work required as scheduled;
