Position Summary

Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and accountable to the licensed nursing staff members, the CNA assists in providing patient care, and maintaining records and a clean environment.

Essential Functions
  • Provides care appropriate to the age of the population served.
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of human growth and development.
  • Provides proper personal hygiene and care for all patients.
  • Accurately measures and records vital signs.
  • Accurately measures and records weights and heights.
  • Accurately measures and records intake and output.
  • Recognizes abnormal findings and reports such findings appropriately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper transfer techniques.
  • Consistently provides preventative skin care measures and reports abnormalities to nursing staff.
  • Provides meal assistance to patients as needed.
  • Properly collects specimens as directed.
  • Utilizes special beds appropriately and triggers alarms on all “high risk for falls” patients.
  • Keep patient rooms neat and tidy.
  • Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives.
  • Will act as a safety sitter as needed.
  • Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure.
  • Follows and adheres to CMS vaccine policies as mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Qualifications Work Experience
  • One year of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
Education
  • Texas State Certified Nurse Aide License is required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of employment required.
