Position Summary
Patient Access Representatives / Registrar registers patients who come into a hospital/clinic for any type of treatment during all shifts, including overnight and on weekends. They primarily report to the Patient Access Supervisor or Manager and work in a team environment alongside clerks and other Patient Access Representatives. Patient Access Representatives use excellent customer service and communication skills to obtain patient data and route patients to the appropriate area.
EssentialFunctions
- Greets patients, answers phones and makes appointments.
- Completes all portions of patient registration in Electronic Health Record.
- Ensures that all forms including patient demographics, insurance information, and required consents have been completed.
- Verifies patient insurance coverage to determine patient liabilities to include copays, deductibles, and coinsurance.
- Calculates charges and payment due for self-pay patients.
- Prepares daily reports showing daily collections and verifies deposit information.
- Maintains monthly collection goal.
- Maintains QA of 98%.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives.
- Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
- Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure.
- Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by CMS.
At least one year of office experience is preferred.
EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.
LanguagesBilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentPhysical demands include lifting and carrying light loads (1–10 lbs), occasional heavier loads, standing, walking, and occasional bending/kneeling. The environment is mostly indoors. An awareness of safety and compliance with infection control and vaccine policies is required.
