Technology Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining and developing internal business applications. The role supports, troubleshoots, and where appropriate develops or enhances, business applications and reports to ensure reliable access to fit‑for‑purpose systems.
Duties & Responsibilities- Support and maintain IT business applications to ensure reliability and security.
- Receive and log support requests in a ticketing system.
- Investigate and resolve application errors and data discrepancies.
- Report troubleshoot and elevate system faults to ensure prompt resolution.
- Participate in user meetings, presenting issues and solutions orally and in writing.
- Monitor request progress and keep users and stakeholders informed.
- Document all work in accordance with required standards, methods, and procedures.
- Support implementation of system upgrades to keep applications compliant and aligned with business requirements.
- Collaborate with the IT Manager to identify and propose application system changes, enhancements, and developments, coordinating with vendors, users, and the IT team.
- Assist other IT areas in implementing new business applications and projects.
- Provide post‑implementation support by offering daily support, training, and related tasks.
- Be available for off‑hour emergency calls and consultations.
- Maintain a high level of customer service and friendly atmosphere.
- Promote a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance.
- Maintain a team environment and promote MAPF in the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous computer technical support preferred.
- Industry certifications such as A+, MCP, Dell or similar preferred.
- Strong knowledge of network troubleshooting: connectivity, IP/TCP‑IP, VPN, and remote support.
- Understanding of Active Directory for unlocking/resetting passwords.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows operating systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve email issues, particularly MS Outlook.
- Clear, professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent customer service skills with empathy and effective troubleshooting.
- Able to document and track technology‑related issues.
- Understanding of relational database concepts.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills, and adaptability to change.
This position is largely self‑directed and requires adherence to company policy, procedures, and safety requirements at all times. The role involves office and manufacturing environments.
- Occasionally lift weights of 50 pounds or less.
- Occasionally climb ladders and stairwells.
- Occasionally sit for long periods of time.
