Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

This is a full-time position with a schedule of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

The competent nurse in the emergency room practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. This role involves providing routine and complex care, with the focus on long-range goals and plans. The nurse will continue to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing and make appropriate assignments and delegations to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.

• Meets expectations of the applicable competencies:
  Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addressees increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
• Administers medications and treatments per protocols; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of treatment prescribed.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty is preferred.
• BLS (AHA only), ACLS (AHA only), PALS (AHA only), and TNCC certifications are required.
• Current RN License in the state of Texas or compact license is required.
