Registered Nurse - ICU (Nights) Schedule

This position requires working the night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Job Description

The competent Registered Nurse in this high-acuity ICU setting practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. You will be providing routine and complex nursing care to patients, including those who are intubated, sedated, and requiring chest tube management and continuous critical care monitoring. You will continue to develop your ability to cope with and manage contingencies that may arise in clinical nursing.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
  • Address the increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with your level of practice.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to protocols while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given.
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and resources.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only).
  • RN license in the state of Texas or compact license required.
