The Police Officer is a full‑time position at the NTCC campus in Mount Pleasant, TX. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors through visible patrols, incident response, and proactive crime prevention. Day‑to‑day tasks include enforcing college policies and applicable laws, responding to emergencies, conducting preliminary criminal investigations, and preparing accurate incident and arrest reports.
The Police Officer will also manage and preserve evidence, assist with traffic and parking control, and collaborate with local law enforcement and campus departments. The position requires strong interpersonal skills to engage positively with the campus community, provide safety education, and support a welcoming learning environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of law enforcement practices, including experience as a Police Officer or in related Police roles.
- Ability to conduct criminal investigations and handle evidence in accordance with legal and procedural standards.
- Understanding of campus safety, community policing, and crime prevention strategies in an educational setting.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and report‑writing skills, with attention to detail and integrity.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure, including in emergency and high‑stress situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
- Completion of an accredited police academy and eligibility for Texas peace officer certification (or ability to obtain as required).
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.
