Position Summary

The Factory Foreman works hand in hand with the Production Manager for projects related to Vertical Works, Inc. and Utopian Villas. Projects include modular homes, modular additions, golf studios, RV travel trailers, and RV park models manufactured in our Mt. Pleasant, WI facility. The role leads a team of up to 8 people and handles up to 6 simultaneous projects. Leaders must cultivate and motivate employees, hold them accountable for quality and profitability, and maintain frequent open communication about progress, efficiency, deadlines, and metrics.

The position may require nights and weekends to meet deadlines.

Objectives
  • Perform physical work on all phases of residential construction including framing, roofing, siding, windows and doors, cabinetry, finish carpentry, mechanicals, and quality assurance.
  • Lead and supervise builders, carpenters, and production personnel.
  • Train new and current employees to perform tasks with quality and profitability.
  • Understand project scope before production begins.
  • Hold employees accountable for their daily tasks.
  • Assist the Production Manager in creating accurate daily, weekly, and monthly schedules while meeting deadlines.
  • Ensure that project schedules and deadlines are met.
  • Manage and direct subcontractors for factory production, holding them accountable for quality and deadlines.
  • Have discussions with employees about workplace violations and provide documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Enforce all safety requirements with employees.

  • Return all emails, voice, and text messages within 24 hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Provide daily and weekly project updates to the Production Manager.
  • Meet project KPI’s (key performance indicators).
  • Demonstrate high verbal, written, and organizational skills.
  • Show high self-accountability for meetings and deadlines.
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude and excellent problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Lead and provide direction with instruction.
  • Build and maintain employee trust.
  • Speak clearly, be easily understood, maintain eye contact, and summarize to verify understanding.
  • Read and comprehend detailed construction blueprints and specifications.
  • Present oneself in a well‑groomed and professional manner.
  • Have strong knowledge of construction tools, materials, and building practices.
  • Have basic knowledge of technology, including smartphones, tablets, and computers.
  • Incorporate Vertical Works, Inc. business philosophies and best practices when guiding customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
Education & Experience
  • GED or high school diploma preferred.
  • At least 10 years of construction experience in custom residential homes, modular homes, or remodeling projects.
  • At least 5 years managing multiple employees and holding them accountable.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally lift 20-50 pounds, up to 100 pounds, frequently lift 10 pounds.
  • Comfortable with heights of 16’+.
  • Be on feet for 10 to 14 hours a day, including terrain, uneven surfaces, ladders, stairs, crouch, kneel, or crawl.

Pay: $75,000 to $105,000 per year (hourly)

Office in Mount Pleasant, WI

Schedule
