The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring a full-time Shelter Operations Manager at each of our Kenosha and Racine Campuses to lead our animal sheltering and client services work. This position provides oversight and leadership to our animal care, client services, and veterinary support teams. The Shelter Operations Managersreports to the Director of Animal and Client Services – Racine and Kenosha Campuses and requires a regular onsite presence at the assigned Campus to lead and support the team.

Key accountabilities:

Lead the People
  • Supervise, coach, and develop staff and volunteers using WHS’s supervisory processes, people-centered approach, and values.
  • Develop performance and professional growth of the teamusing WHS’s supervisory tools and through effective hiring, onboarding, and training of staff.
  • Collaborate within and across teams tomaintainthe alignment of people, processes, and organizational functions.
Lead the Culture
  • Foster a culture of inclusion by seeking input from others and valuing diverse perspectives.

Lead the Work
  • Ensure execution of strategic operating plans and ongoing processes to support our work at the Kenosha Campus in alignment with organizational resources, priorities, and community needs.
  • Implement,monitor, andmaintainorganizationally defined animal care and client services standards.
  • Monitor animal population and ensure that animals are moving efficiently from intake to outcome.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for municipal stakeholders in the Kenoshacommunity.
  • Ensure excellent customer service that aligns with our values and creates an inclusive environment for staff, volunteers,and the community.
  • Overseescheduling, supervision, and support for daily tasks.
  • Manage toand provide input on the campus budget.
Qualifications:
  • Able to lead a team and inspire great performance to achieve results; prior supervisory and animal welfare experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated alignment with our mission,people-centered philosophy, and organizational values of compassion, respect, and kindness;innovation;professionalism;equity;and positive approach.
  • Ableto navigate emotional aspects of animalwelfarework.
  • Ableto balance the needs of the organization with the needs of staff, animals, and clients.
  • Able to successfully meet the physical demands of the job, which include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

    Must be ableto routinelylift and carryup to50pounds.
  • Able to flex schedule to support the team as needed, including occasional weekend shifts, on-call, and/or rotating holidays.

Hiring range:$41,000-$51,000
