Are you detail-oriented? Do you enjoy a job where each day is filled with routine tasks? The Technical Services Department at the Mount Prospect Public Library is looking for a part-time Processing Assistant. In this role, you will prepare new books, media, and other items by covering, labeling, and tagging them so they are ready for the public to borrow.
The ideal candidate will be collaborative and able to work independently.
SCHEDULE
18 hours per week. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 8am to 2pm.

Dental, life, and pet insurancePURPOSEUnder the direct supervision of the Technical Services Assistant Department Head, the Processing Assistant is responsible for clerical tasks associated with processing library materials for circulation. This position includes coordination of withdrawn materials and other general clerical duties.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position comprises of the following essential duties:
Materials processing (approx. 50%)Withdrawn materials coordination (approx. 25%)Special projects (approx. 15%)Other non-essential job duties may include other administrative and/or clerical departmental tasks as assigned.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Materials Processing Processes print and AV materials, including covering, labeling, RFID tagging, packaging, etc.
Prepares and processes materials for Library of Things Monitors the shelves of physical materials to be processed and prioritizes as necessary
Assists with coordinating seasonal materials as needed
Withdrawn Materials Processing Deletes records for withdrawn items from the ILS and sorts items for disposal
Special Departmental Projects Assists with special projects such as reclassification, repackaging, relabeling, etc.
Compiles and maintains a detailed inventory list of the department’s processing supplies
Coordinates ordering processing supplies
Other
Assists with collection weeding and other related clean-up projects
Performs clerical support tasks as assigned
Assists with monitoring delivery door, as needed
Unpacks boxes of library items, as needed
Attends appropriate meetings, workshops and seminars
Serves on committees as assigned
Other duties as assigned EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma required.
Experience with an ILS desirable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & WORK CONDITIONS Knowledge & Ability Knowledge of library policies and procedures
Knowledge in the use of the Integrated Library System Ability to access, input and retrieve data from the computer
Knowledge of interactive web applications and email
Knowledge of library technical services
Ability to alphabetize correctly and to understand numerical arrangement utilizing the decimal point
