Project Engineer – Stormwater Management
The Mount Prospect Public Works Department is seeking candidates for the position of Project Engineer – Stormwater Management within the Engineering Division.
Essential Functions- Develop and implement innovative solutions to address complex environmental challenges.
- Apply strong technical background in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater modeling.
- Collaborate with Village staff, elected officials, residents, developers, and stormwater regulatory agencies.
- Plan, design, and implement stormwater management systems, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Oversee the Village’s participation in the National Flood Insurance Program and the Community Rating System recertification.
- Ensure compliance with NPDES regulations and other applicable regulations.
- Interact with citizens, business owners, contractors, consultants, elected officials, State/County employees, and other stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited program.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois required or ability to acquire within one year of employment.
- Certified Floodplain Manager certification, or ability to acquire within one year of employment.
- Minimum of four years’ engineering experience in municipal engineering.
- Class B driver’s license (CDL) from the State of Illinois or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.
Starting Rate: $107,227 - $150,118 annually depending on qualifications. Minimum 40 hours per week.
