Project Engineer – Stormwater Management

The Mount Prospect Public Works Department is seeking candidates for the position of Project Engineer – Stormwater Management within the Engineering Division.

• Develop and implement innovative solutions to address complex environmental challenges.
• Apply strong technical background in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater modeling.
• Collaborate with Village staff, elected officials, residents, developers, and stormwater regulatory agencies.
• Plan, design, and implement stormwater management systems, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Oversee the Village’s participation in the National Flood Insurance Program and the Community Rating System recertification.
• Ensure compliance with NPDES regulations and other applicable regulations.
• Interact with citizens, business owners, contractors, consultants, elected officials, State/County employees, and other stakeholders on a regular basis.

• Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited program.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois required or ability to acquire within one year of employment.
• Certified Floodplain Manager certification, or ability to acquire within one year of employment.
• Minimum of four years’ engineering experience in municipal engineering.
• Class B driver’s license (CDL) from the State of Illinois or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Starting Rate: $107,227 - $150,118 annually depending on qualifications. Minimum 40 hours per week.
