Laboratory Assistant (Part-Time)

Weil Foot & Ankle Institute (WFA) has been a world leader in foot and ankle care for over 55 years. Our mission is to improve quality of life through advanced, patient-focused care. We are expanding and seek a dedicated part-time Laboratory Assistant to support our Molecular (PCR) lab.

Job Type: Part-Time

• Receive and log patient specimens with strict attention to labeling and order accuracy.
• Sterile aliquoting of samples for PCR and AP workflows.
• Maintain accurate records in the EMR system and Excel worksheets.
• Submit orders electronically and update internal records in real‑time.
• Coordinate reference lab shipments and courier schedules.
• Support daily sample routing, sample splitting, and molecular preparation tasks.
• Collaborate with lab techs and reference labs to optimize and manage workflows.
• Identify and elevate processing delays to prevent turnaround time interruptions.
• Contribute to shared logistics projects and inter‑lab efficiency strategies.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Laboratory safety training (biohazard handling, OSHA regulations).
• Experience in a clinical or pathology laboratory.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and EMR systems.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Dependable, communicative, and collaborative.
• Comfortable working independently in a high‑complexity, fast‑paced environment.

• Prior lab experience in clinical, research, or academic settings.

• Monday–Friday, flexible day shift (no weekends).

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting and moving lab supplies and equipment up to 25 lbs.
• Must follow lab safety and PPE protocols at all times.
