Considering a move to Europe but unsure on how to make this happen? We have a client in Amsterdam who are looking for Linux Engineering talent and would facilitate everything for you!
About the Role
A high-performance trading environment relies on exceptional infrastructure. We are looking for an experienced Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join a team that ensures the reliability and performance of one of the most advanced bare-metal server environments in the industry.
You will work in a low-latency, high-throughput production environment where systems must perform at peak efficiency at all times. The team’s mission is to design, deploy, monitor, and operate a fleet of high-performance UNIX servers—ensuring the platform remains stable, secure, and optimized for demanding market conditions.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on scalability, intelligent automation, and deep systems-level problem solving. You will work closely with software engineers, network engineers, and hardware teams to build and maintain a platform that supports mission-critical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle of physical and virtual servers: provisioning, deployment, configuration, monitoring, and retirement.
- Build automation tools and solutions to improve system observability, availability, and operational efficiency.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical incidents; act swiftly to maintain platform stability.
- Own performance monitoring and capacity planning across a large fleet of bare-metal systems.
- Drive infrastructure improvements by bridging gaps between hardware and software teams.
- Explore and implement emerging technologies to maintain best-in-class system performance.
- Take initiative on infrastructure projects and contribute to long-term architectural decisions.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 6 years of experience managing large-scale Linux/UNIX server environments in a performance-critical context.
- Strong understanding of Linux kernel internals and system-level debugging.
- Proficient in Python and passionate about automation and tooling development.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, preferably with Ansible.
- Comfortable in fast-paced, high-performance computing environments.
- Strong grasp of networking, virtualization technologies, and hardware-software integration.
- Analytical problem-solver who thrives in complex, dynamic environments.
- Clear communicator, capable of articulating design choices and technical trade-offs.
- Naturally curious, with a proactive and adaptable mindset—comfortable with frequent change.
What You’ll Get
- Fully covered relocation assistance, including sign on bonus, relocation cost coverage and an apartment close to the city centre and office provided for the first few months.
- Full Visa sponsorship, covering costs and logistics of acquiring one.
- Opportunity to work in Amsterdam with highly skilled engineers from more than 40 nationalities.
- Collaborative and high-performance culture focused on solving complex technical challenges.
- A performance-based bonus structure tied to collective success, not individual competition.
- Fully-paid health insurance and commuting benefits.
- On-site perks including breakfast, lunch, and access to fitness and wellness programs.
- Ongoing training opportunities and support for attending technical conferences.
- Relocation support and visa sponsorship where required.
- A culture of inclusion that values diversity of thought and experience.
