Systems Engineer
Overview
Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a System Engineer to support the enhancement, sustainment, and modernization of ground‑based satellite geolocation systems. The ideal candidate will contribute to the full engineering lifecycle—from requirements development through deployment—delivering innovative software‑based capabilities that advance critical mission operations.
Responsibilities- Innovating RF signal processing applications
- Facilitating the integration of new and legacy software across a variety of hardware form factors
- Analyzing user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high‑level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications
- Deriving an understanding of stakeholder needs and essential system functions from system requirements
- Developing a system design solution that satisfies system requirements
- Participating in producing definitions of systems or components under development that provide common reference points for hardware and software developers
- Deriving lower‑level requirements from higher‑level allocated requirements that describe in detail the functions that a system component must fulfill
- Ensuring lower‑level requirements are complete, correct, unique, unambiguous, realizable, and verifiable
- Participating in an Integrated Product Team to design new capabilities based upon evaluation of all necessary development and operational considerations
- Generating alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions, and suggesting hardware upgrades to improve system performance
- Allocating real‑time process budgets and error budgets to systems and subsystem components
- Participating in interface definition, design, and changes to the configuration between affected groups and individuals throughout the life cycle
- Producing written plans that define the methods, processes, and evaluation criteria by which the systems, subsystems, and work products are verified against their requirements
- Participating in the development of system engineering documentation, such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirement Specification, and Interface Control Documents
- Developing derived requirements for Information Assurance Services (Confidentiality, Integrity, Non‑repudiation, and Availability), Basic Information Assurance Mechanisms (e.g., Identification, Authentication, Access Control, Accountability), and Security Mechanism Technology (passwords, cryptography, discretionary access control, mandatory access control, hashing, key management, etc.)
- Reviewing and providing input to program and contract Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), work packages, and the Integrated Master Plan (IMP)
- Seven (7) years of experience as a systems engineer in medium‑scale (20–100 people) or larger programs or contracts
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university
- Five (5) additional years of system engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
- Active Security Clearance
- Experience with Jira/Confluence or similar project management tools
- INCOSE ASEP or similar systems engineering certification
- Proficiency with Cameo/Magic Draw, Rhapsody, or similar SysML tools
