Overview

The University of Maryland School of Medicine seeks candidates to join the full-time faculty of the Division of Surgical Oncology at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Candidates should be board-certified. Responsibilities will include growth of Surgical Oncology programs and clinical practice at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Washington Medical Center (UMBWMC), providing care to complex Surgical Oncology patients at the UMBWMC Campus, contributing to the comprehensive growth of surgical oncology throughout the Medical System, and educating medical students, surgery residents, and fellows.

Candidates should have a clear plan for clinical practice building, academic development, and scholarly activity that is consistent with the mission of the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Responsibilities
  • Grow Surgical Oncology programs and clinical practice at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and Washington Medical Center (UMBWMC).
  • Provide care to complex Surgical Oncology patients at the UMBWMC Campus.
  • Contribute to the comprehensive growth of surgical oncology throughout the Medical System.
  • Educate medical students, surgery residents, and fellows.
  • Develop a plan for clinical practice building, academic development, and scholarly activity aligned with the School of Medicine's mission.
Organization and Location

The UMBWMC campus is in Glen Burnie, Maryland, less than a 20-minute drive from downtown Baltimore. The current surgical oncology practice at UMBWMC is broad and comprehensive, supported by the Tate Cancer Center and part of the University of Maryland Medical System. The School of Medicine is located in downtown Baltimore, near the Inner Harbor and Camden Yards. Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $379,704 - $605,000. The referenced salary range reflects base pay, determined by faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the Departmental faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental variable compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein. For more information, please contact the hiring department.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position. It is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will depend on multiple factors including geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training, and other factors as reasonably determined by the University.
