Kaiser Permanente is seeking a compassionate Pediatric Oncology Nurse to provide specialized care to children undergoing cancer treatment. In our Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will administer chemotherapy, manage central lines, monitor side effects, and support families through complex treatment plans. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll educate caregivers, coordinate care, and advocate for patient needs. Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric oncology patients, including assessments and vital monitoring
  • Administer chemotherapy, transfusions, and supportive medications safely and accurately
  • Manage central lines, ports, and IV access, following strict infection-control protocols
  • Monitor, document, and report treatment responses, adverse reactions, and complications
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and home care requirements
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, social workers, and other team members on care plans
  • Support families emotionally during diagnosis, treatment, and transitions of care
  • Maintain accurate EMR documentation and follow hospital policies and regulatory standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice updates
  • Precept or mentor newer nurses and contribute to unit-based education as needed

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) – preferred
  • Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) – preferred
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy administration certification
  • Pediatric nursing experience
  • Central line management competency
  • Infection control training
