Kaiser Permanente is seeking a compassionate Pediatric Oncology Nurse to provide specialized care to children undergoing cancer treatment. In our Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will administer chemotherapy, manage central lines, monitor side effects, and support families through complex treatment plans. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll educate caregivers, coordinate care, and advocate for patient needs. Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric oncology patients, including assessments and vital monitoring
- Administer chemotherapy, transfusions, and supportive medications safely and accurately
- Manage central lines, ports, and IV access, following strict infection-control protocols
- Monitor, document, and report treatment responses, adverse reactions, and complications
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and home care requirements
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, social workers, and other team members on care plans
- Support families emotionally during diagnosis, treatment, and transitions of care
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation and follow hospital policies and regulatory standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice updates
- Precept or mentor newer nurses and contribute to unit-based education as needed
- Pediatric oncology nursing
- Chemotherapy administration
- Central line care (PICC/Port-a-Cath)
- Assessment of pediatric oncology patients
