The Senior Plumbing Inspector is responsible for inspecting plumbing systems in newly constructed buildings and in older, remodeled buildings as well as enforcement of Maryland State and Wicomico County plumbing codes and other applicable codes, and supporting plumbing activities for housing rehab projects. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Inspect plumbing systems in newly constructed and remodeled buildings;
• Preparing and issuing plumbing permits;
• Maintaining plumbing permit and inspection files via databases/tracking systems;
• Conducting plan reviews of residential and commercial plumbing systems;
• Working with contractors and homeowners designing and inspecting systems;
• Writing bid notices and meeting with interested vendors for well and septic system replacements;
• Representing the County and Planning and Zoning Department at meetings and trainings as required;
• Participating in damage assessments audits; and
• Serves as the lead plumbing inspector.

High School Diploma or GED;
Maryland Master Plumber License; 2 years of related experience within the plumbing industry;
Thorough ability to read and interpret architectural plans;
Extensive knowledge and understanding of buildings, fire, and ADA codes;
Advanced understanding of building construction principles and practices related to plumbing;
Ability to effectively communicate plumbing requirements and permit process with builders, engineers, architects and the public in general;
Ability to answer plumbing questions in the field as well as over the phone or e‑mail;
Ability to work with the involved parties when a code violation occurs to make sure all violations are brought up to code;
Willingness to be on call 24/7 for emergency situations;
Valid Driver’s License; and Ability to successfully pass background check and drug screening.
