Medical Laboratory Technician III (Evening Shift) - Memorial Hospital Shiloh

Join a collaborative laboratory team at Memorial Hospital Shiloh, where you'll have the opportunity to practice as a true generalist across multiple disciplines while making a direct impact on patient care.

What You'll Do

  • Perform and accurately report laboratory testing on inpatient, outpatient, and outreach specimens.
  • Conduct analyzer quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor turnaround times (TATs) to ensure timely patient results.
  • Communicate critical results to providers and care teams promptly and accurately.
  • Work throughout multiple laboratory areas, including:
    • Hematology/Coagulation/Urinalysis
    • Chemistry
    • Blood Bank
    • Molecular
    • Send Outs
    • Specimen Processing

Schedule

  • Evening Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
  • Weekend rotation currently every 5th weekend
  • Two holidays per year
  • Evening shift differential available

Qualifications

  • MLT or MLS certification required through ASCP, AMT, or AAB.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred: 2-3 years of generalist laboratory experience, including Blood Bank.

Overview

Memorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care including Children’s at Memorial for pediatric emergency care. It provides patients a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good laboratory practice May also coordinate the activities of the lab.

Responsibilities

  • Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
  • Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action.
  • Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, test analysis.
  • Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems and or reports any problems to the appropriate department. Assesses technical and or instrument problems, including quality control and abnormal findings, evaluate possible solutions and chooses an appropriate course of action to solve the problem.
  • Trains new personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
