Job Summary
Assists in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients under supervision and collaboration with other health care professionals.
Responsibilities- Answer patients’ calls for help, take vital signs, and monitor behavior and physical condition for progress or deterioration.
- Create a positive patient experience by assisting with activities of daily living, including bathing, ambulating, feeding, skin care, personal and oral hygiene, and bed‑making.
- Assist and perform procedures such as dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, toileting, turning, cough and deep breathing, catheter care, collection of biological specimens, and measurement/recording of intake and output of fluids.
- Contribute to patient satisfaction by establishing a compassionate environment, responding promptly to needs, communicating openly, and providing emotional and psychological support.
- Relate information via charting and communicate to team members; inform licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition, complaints, or educational needs.
- Prepare patients for discharge and accompany them if indicated.
- Stock and maintain supplies and equipment in keeping with patient care needs and cost containment.
- Orient new patients and significant others to the nursing unit.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
- Six months experience in nursing.
- Graduate is an experienced nurse relocating from another state or country and awaiting appropriate state documentation to work as an RN.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech for communication; frequent hearing to distinguish body sounds and alarms.
- Frequent lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs.; occasional lifting 25–50 lbs; occasional lifting/moving patients.
- Frequent reaching, gripping, keyboard use/data entry; frequent use of vision for near/far distances.
- Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive movements.
- Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships; occasional use of smell to detect odors; occasional driving.
