Job Title

Job Highlights

PRN (as needed) position. No guaranteed hours or benefits. Variable shifts: days, nights, weekends, holidays. Must have current Illinois CNA certification and be 18+ years old. Eligible for shift differential and some benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement Savings). Pay range $15.63 - $23.45 hourly.

Job Summary

Assists in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients.

Responsibilities
  • Receives patient care assignments from the registered nurse (RN) in charge and initiates delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence.
  • Collects and documents data for admission assessment and reassessment at specific times for the patient population.
  • Documents and provides appropriate data to the licensed nurse for analysis and validation of the patient’s response to care or treatment and when significant change occurs.
  • Relays information via charting and communicates to team members.
  • Informs licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition or needs, patient complaints, and significant other educational needs.
  • Answers patients’ calls for help, takes vital signs, and monitors behavior and physical condition for progress or deterioration.
  • Assists with baths, ambulation, feeding, skin care, personal and oral hygiene, and making occupied and unoccupied beds.
  • Performs dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, toileting, turning, cough and deep breathing exercises, catheter care, collection of biological specimens, and measures and records intake and output of fluids.
  • Prepares patients for discharge and accompanies them upon dismissal as indicated.
  • Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment in keeping with patient care needs and cost containment.
  • Assists with delegated clerical duties such as answering telephones, relaying messages, transcription of physician orders, and preparing and organizing the patient’s medical record.
  • Orients new patients and significant others to the nursing unit.
  • Performs mechanical and manual operation of equipment as recommended in the user’s manual, with the ability to recognize common mechanical problems and initiate appropriate corrective action.
  • May perform point‑of‑care testing according to policies and procedures.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Current Illinois Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements

Constant standing and walking; frequent use of hearing and speech; frequent use of vision for near and far; frequent lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling of objects 0‑25 lbs; occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling of objects 25‑50 lbs; occasional lifting/moving of patients; occasional use of smell, driving, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
