Job Highlights:
This is a PRN (as needed) position filling in for vacations, leave of absences, etc. There are no guaranteed hours or benefits. The shifts are variable – days or nights, weekends and holidays as needed. You must have a current Illinois CNA certification and be at least 18 years old to qualify for this position. Eligible for shift and weekend differential and some benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision and Retirement Savings.

Pay Range: $15.63 – $23.45

Job Summary:

Assists in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Receives patient care assignment from the RN in charge and initiates delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence.
  • Collects and documents data for admission assessment and reassessment at specified times.
  • Relays information via charting and communicates to team members.
  • Inform licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition/needs, patient complaints, and educational needs.
  • Answers patients’ calls, takes vital signs, monitors behavior and physical condition, assists with baths, ambulation, feeding, skin care, personal hygiene and bed management.
  • Performs dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, toileting, turning, cough and deep breathing, catheter care, collects specimens, and records intake/output.
  • Prepares patients for discharge and accompanies them if indicated.
  • Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with delegated clerical duties such as answering phones, relaying messages, transcribing physician orders, and preparing medical records.
  • Orients new patients and significant others to the nursing unit.
  • Operates equipment as recommended, recognizes mechanical problems and initiates corrective action.
  • May perform point‑of‑care testing per policies.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Education equivalency for licensing
Experience
  • No experience required
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent hearing and speech for oral communication.
  • Frequent hearing to distinguish sounds and alarms.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent vision for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive movements.
  • Occasional vision to judge distances and spatial relationships.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving patients.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect odors.
  • Occasional driving.
