Pre-Op Recovery Nurse

Pre-Op / Recovery Registered Nurse (PRN)
Marion Eye Surgery Center is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (PRN) to join our outpatient surgery team part-time. The Pre-Op/Recovery RN is responsible for providing exceptional patient care before and after surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and education throughout the surgical experience.

Responsibilities:

Prepare patients for surgery by completing assessments, reviewing medical history, verifying medications, and starting IVs.Monitor and care for patients in the recovery area following surgery.

Assess patient condition, vital signs, pain level, and readiness for discharge.

Administer medications and treatments as ordered.

Educate patients and family members regarding pre-operative and post-operative instructions.

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff to ensure high-quality patient care.

Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record.

Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.

Previous experience in pre-op, PACU, surgery, ICU, or emergency nursing preferred.

Excellent assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outpatient surgery setting.
