About the Role:The Paint Inspector will inspect and test paints, primers, coatings, and related materials used by the Authority. This role requires experience with paint manufacturing, laboratory testing, color matching, ASTM test methods, and regulatory requirements for restricted chemicals.
Minimum Qualifications:- Associate's degree in chemistry or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience inspecting and/or testing paints, primers, and coatings.
- Experience with ASTM and other laboratory test methods.
- Knowledge of paint manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of industry and military specifications.
- Knowledge of New York State and federal regulations for restricted chemicals, including volatile organic compounds.
- Experience working in paint manufacturing plants.
- Quality assurance experience involving paints, primers, or coatings.
- Experience working in paint-testing laboratories.
- Experience with color matching and instrumental color measurement techniques.
- Experience with tri-stimulus measurement.
- Inspect paints, primers, coatings, and related materials.
- Review sampling and laboratory testing results.
- Witness manufacturing and/or testing at paint manufacturer laboratories when required.
- Evaluate color matching and instrumental color measurements.
- Verify compliance with Authority paint specifications, labeling requirements, and color catalog requirements.
- Prepare inspection reports and support material acceptance decisions.
