Job SummaryThe Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of all prestressed concrete products manufactured at the plant. The position is responsible for performing material testing, monitoring production processes, inspecting finished products, and maintaining accurate quality documentation in accordance with industry standards, customer specifications, and company quality programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform daily quality checks and inspections on prestressed concrete products, ensuring compliance with project specifications, PCI standards, and internal quality procedures.
- Conduct sampling and testing of raw materials (aggregates, cement, admixtures, etc.) for conformance to specifications.
- Monitor stressing operations, concrete batching, pouring, curing, and finishing processes to verify compliance with approved procedures.
- Conduct pre-pour and post-pour inspections and complete detailed inspection reports.
- Verify proper tensioning of prestressing strands and placement of reinforcing steel.
- Monitor and record environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity that may affect product quality.
- Perform slump tests, air content tests, unit weight, and compressive strength tests on fresh and hardened concrete samples.
- Document and report any non-conformances or quality issues to production supervisors and the Quality Control Manager.
- Assist with maintaining and calibrating quality control testing equipment.
- Maintain complete and accurate quality control records for all production batches and testing results.
- Support internal and external audits, including PCI plant certification audits.
- Communicate effectively with production personnel, engineers, and management regarding quality issues and corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to company safety standards at all times.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree or technical training in construction materials, engineering technology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in quality control or testing in the concrete, precast, or prestress industry preferred.
- PCI Level I or Level II Quality Control Technician Certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire).
- Knowledge of concrete mix designs, testing procedures, and prestressed concrete manufacturing processes is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and able to complete accurate documentation.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in outdoor and plant environments with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks related to inspections and testing.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
- Must wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Starts at $20.75 per hour. Pay increases after completing certifications for QC Tech levels 2–4, with an annual review after reaching level
4. Sign‑on bonus of $1,000. Additional incentives up to $4,800 per year for attendance, safety, and production. Benefits include PTO after 60 days, 9 paid holidays, medical/dental/vision insurance, company‑paid life insurance and short‑term disability, 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, and annual boot allowance.
$20–$27.25 hourly wage
