The Assistant Principal at Madison Elementary School supports the Principal in providing instructional, operational, and equity‑centered leadership within a Spanish–English dual‑language environment. This role advances the school’s dual‑language program by ensuring high‑quality instruction, bilingualism, biliteracy, and cultural competence for all students.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Principal in general administration and daily operations of the school, including implementation of district initiatives and school‑improvement plans.
- Provide leadership and support for the dual‑language instructional model, ensuring fidelity to the 90/10 immersion framework.
- Support staff in designing rigorous, culturally responsive instruction in both English and Spanish.
- Observe instruction, provide feedback, and support continuous improvement using the district‑adopted framework.
- Develop student growth plans and identify evidence for instructional impact.
- Lead with an equity lens to close opportunity gaps and ensure all students receive appropriate instruction and support.
- Implement restorative and preventative discipline practices focused on student safety and well‑being.
- Analyze and interpret data to inform instructional practices, school‑improvement planning, and student support systems.
- Build strong school–family–community partnerships, engaging families in culturally responsive ways and using bilingual communication.
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal laws, policies, and procedures.
- Engage in continuous professional growth and support the professional development of staff.
- Master’s degree in educational administration or related field.
- Washington State principal certification.
- Three years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level.
- Five years of elementary administrative experience (preferred).
- Commitment to social justice and equity.
- Experience with Special Education programs (preferred).
- Bilingual English/Spanish required – proficiency confirmed with testing.
Criminal background clearance and professional experience verification required.
Physical DemandsThe employee will frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation. Occasional climbing, lifting, and pushing of up to 100 lbs may occur.
Work EnvironmentIndoor environment with occasional intermittent work near video displays and occasional outdoor exposure. Noise level usually moderate.
