Salary: $76,930 to $150,485 per year

Job Description

Performance

Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Plan and deliver clear, evidence‑based instruction using state standards, subject matter content, district curriculum, and student needs.
  • Collaborate in planning, programming, and instructional activities to improve teaching practices and student learning.
  • Recognize individual strengths and learning needs, developing strategies and interventions to promote achievement.
  • Use multiple student data sources to assess progress, modify instruction, and improve outcomes.
  • Integrate technology into instruction to support digital literacy and engagement.
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community to foster student success.
  • Maintain a safe, positive learning environment that promotes effective behavior.
  • Maintain and submit required student progress information and records.
  • Participate in meetings to implement school initiatives and address student needs.
  • Attend all relevant professional development and training opportunities.
  • Comply with supervision and evaluation procedures.
  • Direct work of assigned staff when applicable.
  • Implement and comply with district policies and code of professional conduct.
  • Maintain consistent attendance within contract hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Washington State certification for Special Education.
  • Knowledge of Washington State and federal rules, and subject matter relevant to the assignment.
  • Ability to use effective instructional strategies, formative and summative assessments, and state‑mandated testing.
  • Experience addressing a broad range of academic and social needs, including at‑risk learners, culturally diverse students, English‑language learners, and special‑education students.
  • Strong planning, reflective practice, and behavior‑management skills.
  • Commitment to a diverse and inclusive learning environment and equity.
  • Ability to work with diverse learners and provide access for all students.
  • Strong communication, organization, time‑management, and record‑keeping skills.
  • Proficient with technology and classroom software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and strengthen job‑related competencies.
Additional Requirements
  • Write and manage Individual Education Plans and complete all required documentation on time.
  • Qualified to teach in a self‑contained or resource‑room setting and report progress to parents/guardians regularly.
  • Collaborate effectively with special‑education and general‑education staff, including support staff.
  • Organized, patient, motivational, and understanding of students’ special needs.
  • Experience working with students with mild to complex physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges.
  • Communicate clearly in written & verbal form and make sound judgments.
  • Use district curriculum and assessments; adapt curriculum to individual needs.
  • Strong student‑management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of English‑Language Learners and diverse learners.
  • Proficiency with PCs, Microsoft Office Suite, e‑mail, and classroom technology.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Second‑language or language‑acquisition background (Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, or Mixteco).
  • Experience with student cultural and economic diversity.
  • Additional endorsements in ELL, special education, and/or reading.
